The XP ICON 28 cm FMF search coil is a versatile all-round search coil for the XP ICON and XP ICON X. With a diameter of 28 cm or 11 inches, it offers a balanced combination of good ground coverage, high detection depth, and precise target separation.
The package includes a compatible coil cover and a carbon-fiber-reinforced lower shaft. The set’s product reference is D28FMFIC.
Fast FMF Multi-Frequency Technology
The wireless search coil uses FMF technology developed by XP. FMF stands for “Fast Multi Frequency” and enables the rapid, simultaneous use of multiple search frequencies.
This makes the search coil sensitive to a broad range of different metal objects. At the same time, the technology supports reliable iron discrimination and precise target identification.
Depending on the metal detector used and the selected search program, different frequencies are available:
- Fast FMF multi-frequency programs with a maximum frequency of up to 40 kHz
- XP ICON: Single frequencies of 4 or 14 kHz
- XP ICON X: Single frequencies of 4, 14, or 28 kHz
Lower frequencies are particularly suitable for larger and deeper objects. Higher frequencies are more sensitive to small or low-conductivity finds. FMF programs combine multiple frequency ranges, enabling the detection of a particularly broad spectrum of objects.
Actual performance may vary depending on the selected search program, ground conditions, mineralization, and the prevailing environmental conditions.
Wireless Signal Transmission
The XP ICON FMF search coil transmits its signals wirelessly to the metal detector. A conventional coil cable running along the shaft is therefore not required.
This keeps the search system tidy and prevents a cable from shifting along the shaft or getting caught on branches and other obstacles during the search.
Integrated Lithium Battery
The search coil has an integrated lithium battery with a runtime of up to 11 hours. This also makes it suitable for longer search sessions.
Actual battery life may vary depending on usage, settings, and environmental conditions.
Waterproof to Approximately 5 Meters
The XP ICON 28 cm FMF search coil is waterproof to a depth of 16 ft or approximately 5 meters.
This means it can be used not only in fields, meadows, and wooded areas, but also on beaches, in streams, and in the water. The permitted waterproof depth of all other components being used must also be observed.
Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Lower Shaft
A carbon-fiber-reinforced lower shaft is included in the package. Reinforcement with carbon fibers makes it lightweight while also providing stability.
It is not a lower shaft made entirely of carbon, but rather a material reinforced with carbon fibers to improve its properties.
Designed for a Long Service Life
The XP ICON system is certified with the LONGTIME® label. This European label identifies and promotes products designed with a long service life in mind.
