OKM Waterfinder

The Waterfinder is mainly used in dry regions, with the greatest need in countries with water scarcity, to search for groundwater or new water sources.

This measuring device is able to locate new water sources in various ground conditions. The water detector is particularly effective on sandy soils, in desert areas, on rocky ground, and in mountainous regions.

The Waterfinder is based on a geoelectric measurement method to detect water accumulations in the ground. Geoelectric measurement determines the ground resistance and the differing electrical conductivity of the water source. In this way, even small deviations in the soil structure can be detected with the water finder. Such anomalies can be water occurrences, groundwater, accumulations of moisture, or water reservoirs in deeper soil layers.

Using the Waterfinder is practical and very easy. There are 4 electrodes that are inserted into the ground, creating a rectangular measuring field. The maximum size of this area can be up to approx. 800 square meters. The electrodes then need to be connected to the water finder in the center of the measuring field. The maximum depth of the Waterfinder is 80 meters.

After switching on the water finder device, a measurement is automatically performed, in which the ground resistance between the individual electrodes is measured in a very specific way. The entire measuring field is fully and automatically surveyed. After a few seconds, the determined measurement result is shown on the display. After a short calculation time in the device, the percentage of water quantity in relation to the measuring field is displayed. This procedure can be repeated as often as necessary until a possible water source is located.

The following technical data are average values. Slight deviations are possible during operation.
