Description

The Garrett Vortex metal detector is the first detector that can be upgraded to an even better detector.

The American brand Garrett makes an impressive comeback with the new "Vortex" series! The Vortex is available in three different versions (VX5, VX7, and VX9). With the new MD-MF technology and refreshing design, Garrett is breaking new ground.

The Vortex models feature both multi-frequency (5 to 25 KHz) and single frequencies, and are waterproof up to 5 meters underwater. This makes the Vortex the perfect beach detector and ideal for searching on the beach and in fresh and saltwater. Of course, the pinpoint function is also included for precisely locating objects.

The Hardware of the Garrett Vortex

The Vortex models are equipped with the 8.5 x 11" (21.5 x 28 cm) Vortex Raider search coil. This is an ideal all-round search coil that allows you to search anywhere. As we are used to from Garrett, the rod construction is sturdy, and there is no play thanks to the twist locks. The 3-piece rod of the Vortex series is a straight rod that can be compactly pushed together to a length of 63 cm and extended to a maximum of 144 cm. The display is clear, and the user interface is easy to understand. Thanks to the backlight, you can read the display well even at night or at dusk.

Vortex VX5 and its Capabilities

You no longer need to hesitate about which model to choose, and wonder if you will regret buying the cheaper model later: The Garrett Vortex VX5 can be upgraded to a VX7 or VX9 at any time. The VX5 metal detector has all the settings and functions a beginner could wish for, and more. You can choose between 2 search frequency options, the single frequency 13 KHz and the multi-frequency, where you search with multiple frequencies simultaneously. The sensitivity can be adjusted in 8 steps. To ignore disturbing minerals in the ground, you can perform a ground balance. Unwanted metals can be excluded from the search process using the discrimination/notch function. The VX5 has a conductivity display (1-99) and a bar graph at the top of the display, where you can additionally see in which conductivity range the object falls. Furthermore, you can also recognize the type of metal by the 3 different tones. Choose one of the 4 search modes and enjoy all that this beautiful hobby has to offer.

Difference Garrett Vortex VX7 and VX5

With the VX7, you have access to even more settings: It offers two single frequencies (5 and 13 KHz) and two multi-frequency programs (Multi and Multi-Salt). To gain more depth, sensitivity and recovery speed can be adjusted in 2 steps. To distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the VX7 has 2 identification bars, with ferrous metals displayed on the lower bar and non-ferrous metals on the upper bar. The VX7 also has 5 detection tones instead of 3 like the VX5. In addition, you also have the option to pair an MS-3 Z-Lynk headphone. With the additional "Beach" search mode, the Vortex becomes an excellent choice for searching on wet salt beaches and in saltwater.

Difference Garrett Vortex VX9 and VX7

With the VX9, in addition to the two multi-frequency programs (Multi and Multi-Salt), you have access to 5 different single frequencies (5, 9, 13, 18, and 25 KHz). For even more precise discrimination, you now also have access to 3 different identification bars, with the lower bar indicating clear iron signals, the middle bar indicating non-ferrous metals, and the upper bar indicating objects that cannot be clearly identified. In most cases, these unidentifiable objects are items such as bottle caps or washers. The recovery speed can be more precisely adjusted in three steps to increase the search depth or reduce the recovery speed. Furthermore, the Garrett Vortex VX9 offers the "Thin Coins" and "Fast" search modes, so it has a total of 7 different search modes.
